Check out the new “Frank’s Azalea”
Super Grilled Cheese
Giorgio’s names their newest sandwich after
Azalea Charities Chairman & CEO
You know you’ve arrived when someone names a sandwich after you. The “Frank’s Azalea” Super Grilled Cheese was introduced on the menu at Giorgio’s Family Restaurant in August, 2008. This sandwich was named after Azalea’s founder and current CEO and Chairman, Frank Lasch, whose face can often be seen at Giorgio’s conducting Azalea meetings or enjoying a casual dinner.
According to Arthur Lampros, whose family owns Giorgio’s, “We’ve had a long-term relationship with Azalea Charities. It supports a cause we believe in and it was founded in our local community. We came up with the idea of naming a sandwich after Frank and donating part of the proceeds to Azalea Charities as a way of helping out and publicizing the charity to our customers.”
Arthur said they wanted to surprise Frank, so they had to be “sneaky” by casually asking Frank which sandwiches were his favorites. They wanted a sandwich that would appeal to both kids and adults – and came up with grilled cheese with bacon and tomato as the perfect choice. They printed the selection on their new menus next to an Azalea Charities’ logo with an explanation that a portion of the cost of the sandwich goes to their cause.
The response from customers has been tremendous. On average, Giorgio’s sells between 30 and 50 “Frank’s Azalea’s” per week. It’s a great-tasting sandwich that sells for $7.49 with fries and is popular with the lunch and dinner crowds.
Giorgio’s Family Restaurant opened in 1999 in Montclair, offering the very best in Greek, Italian and American cuisine. They are proud to be one of Prince William County's favorite restaurants and were most recently voted "Best Family Dining 2008" in Northern Virginia by the readers of Northern Virginia Magazine (June/July 2008).
