Light the Night Walk to benefit the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society
Saturday, October 4, 2008

Neighbors, friends & businesspeople –

On October 4th Frank Lasch and Bob Orazi, along with other members of Azalea Charities, will once again be walking in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk to raise funds to help fight cancer.

The Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

We would like to enlist your support for this important cause.  It’s important because there are more than 747,000 people in the United States and Canada who are fighting blood cancers.  Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over.

  • Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer.  Every 10 minutes someone dies.

  • Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death among children and young adults under the age of 20.

  • Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.

  • The myeloma survival rate is only 32.4 percent.  Incidence is twice as high for African Americans as for all other races.

On October 4th, Frank Lasch and Bob Orazi will lead other Azalea Charities participants by walking in memory of close friends, family and fellow workers and to honor of those still dealing with this dreadful disease and those who have survived.

IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND OR RELATIVE THAT HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA AND WOULD LIKE US TO WALK FOR THAT PERSON PLEASE INDICATE THE NAME ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND MAIL WITH YOUR CHECK.
