Dear Mr. Lasch,

This letter is to express my appreciation for the continuing support which Azalea Charities has extended to the Fisher House at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Over the past three years Azalea Charities has provided literally hundreds of requested items and the cost of thousands of dollars in support of the many soldiers and their families recuperating from war wounds suffered in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Whether it be diapers or food, or clothing or printers or printer cartridges, Azalea has provided quick and responsive service, consistently high quality goods and timely deliveries. One of the most impressive aspects of Azalea's efforts has been its dedication to providing only those items requested, thereby avoiding overburdening our somewhat limited storage capability with unnecessary or marginally useful feel-good items.

I understand that Azalea Charities operates without significant overhead, a fact which makes the consistency of your service that much more impressive and remarkable. From this fact I have come to realize how much behind-the-scenes effort must have preceded each delivery including the time consuming and relatively unrewarding tasks of fund-raising, documentation and reporting.

Whatever was required to produce such impressive results, let me say without hesitation that, from the standpoint of benefits to the recovering soldier and his family, the effort was well worth it. My experience at the Fisher House is that the soldiers benefit in more than one way from the items you provide. Your donated gifts are essentially expressions of love, respect and admiration in which the soldiers are held by a grateful American society. Many have been out of touch in the war zone and are unsure of their reception at home. The gifts reassure them spiritually just as the goods comfort them physically.

You do not know, and most likely will never know, the identities of those you have helped. But God knows, and if there is anything right in the universe He will smile on you for the effort you have made, for the ministry you have provided, for the transcendent healing and love that your care and concern represent. Well done and thank you.
